About Lincoln Square

Lincoln Square, the area where Lincoln Avenue snakes into the intersection of Western and Lawrence Avenues, is an old German neighborhood that grew during the nineteenth century.

Local residents today enjoy the German street fest that occurs every summer, where the entire neighborhood and people from all over Chicago come to sample the delicious German food and beer. German restaurants, shops, bars, and delis can still be found in the neighborhood, but Lincoln Square caters to all. Walk down the old fashioned square and you'll run into French, Bosnian, Greek, Mexican, Korean, and Thai restaurants among others. Not to mention bakeries, a movie theater. a record store, coffee shops, and a farmer's market on Tuesday mornings during the summer months.

Housing in Lincoln Square is mostly made up of single family homes and two and three flat walkup apartment buildings. However, a growing number of new construction, luxurious condominiums and single family homes have been built in the area as well.
